Shri Sharad Pawar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, Government of India received report of High Power Committee on Management of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) here today.

Dr. R.S. Paroda, Chairman, Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS) and Chairman, High Power Committee on Management of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) presented the report in presence of Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR; Shri Arvind Kaushal, Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR and Dr. K.D. Kokate, Deputy Director General (Extension), ICAR.

This Committee was constituted for suggesting measures to improve relevance, efficiency and guidelines for implementation of policies for KVKs. The Committee has made recommendations on Mandate and Domain of activities; Establishment and Infrastructure; Co-ordination, Implementation and Monitoring; Convergence and Linkage; Administrative Guidelines; Financial Management and Visibility of KVK System.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) established its first KVK in 1974 at Pondicherry for effective dissemination of technologies at grass-root level. This important movement has travelled almost 40 years of successful journey to build a strong network in almost all districts in the country with 636 KVKs.
