Meeting to Discuss Jharkhand Agricultural Development Vision Organized

In his address, Dr. Kasturirangan lauded the efforts of ICAR and the State Government in agricultural development of the region. He emphasized upon the immediate implementation of the action plan proposed with two tier monitoring system comprising of Implementation Committee and the Mission Council. This exercise was initiated at the instance of Planning Commission in December 2013. In this regard, two consultations were held in Ranchi and Delhi in January and March, 2014 especially to develop the Vision Document.

In his opening remark, Dr. S Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR highlighted the key issues of agricultural development in the state and outlined the role of ICAR in development of Vision Document. Dr. R. Ramani, Director, Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums (IINRG), Ranchi made a brief presentation on the Vision Document.

Dr. Kanchan K. Singh, Assistant Director General (Engineering); and Directors of ICAR Institutes were also present on the occasion.

Misra, Advisors and Shri Y.N. Khare, Deputy Advisor of Planning Commission; Dr. M.P. Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, BAU; Dr. R.P. Ratan, Director (Extension), BAU; and Directors of concerned agriculture departments also participated in the meeting.
