Foundation Stone of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramgarh, Jharkhand laid by Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture

The foundation stone of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramgarh, Jharkhand was laid down by Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Hon’ble Union Agriculture Minister, Govt. of India along with Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR, on 26th August, 2014 at Mandu, Jharkhand. This is the 24th KVK in the state of Jharkhand which has been established under the aegis of ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna.

Hon’ble Union Minister, during his address, expressed his hope that the KVK will help in fulfilling the extension needs of the district and stressed upon efforts for rehabilitation of areas facing threat of soil erosion because of coalmines. He reiterated that the KVK should develop such model for improving the sources of livelihood of the local farmers. Sri Singh informed that KVK at Ramgarh is 639th KVK in India sanctioned by ICAR. On this occasion, 12 progressive farmers of the Ramgarh district were honoured for their significant achievements in different sectors of agriculture. A technical bulletin in Hindi entitled "Poorvi kshetra mein krishi bihask hetu takniki vikalpa" was also released by the Hon'ble minister.Shri Jayant Sinha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Hazaribag also addressed the gathering.

The programme was also attended by the other dignitaries like Dr. A. K. Sikka, DDG (NRM & Agrl. Extension), ICAR, Dr. B.P Bhatt, Director, ICAR RCER, Patna, Dr R.Ramani, Director, IINRG, Ranchi, Dr. A. K. Singh, ZPD, Zone-II, Kolkata, Dr R. P. Ratan, Director Extension & I/c VC, BAU, Ranchi and Dr A.K.Singh, Head, ICAR RCER, RC, Ranchi. A Kisan Ghosti was also organized during this occasion in which more than two thousand farmers from different parts of the district participated.
