Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Inaugurates CAU-Agri fair at Imphal

Shri. Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare inaugurated the Central Agricultural University -Agriculture Fare in CAU Campus here today.In his inaugural address, Shri Singh emphasized on organic farming and soil health card for reviving the soil health for improving its potential to produce more. He also emphasized the need for establishing integrated bee keeping centre, vocational training centre and seed hub. The Chief Guest conferred the first Dr. HK Jain Award- CAU 2013 -14 for excellence of Agricultural Research in NE India to Dr. Anup Das, Principal Scientist, Agronomy, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya.

Padma Bhusan Dr. R. B Singh, the Chancellor, CAU, Dr. M Premjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, CAU, Dr. K.M. Bujarbaruah, Vice Chancellor, AAU, Jorhat, Dr. SV Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Umiam, Meghalaya graced the event.

ICAR NEH publications on “NICRA Research Highlights” along with other publications of CAU were released by the dignitaries. Poultry chicks were distributed to physically challenged youths and the fruit sapling were also distributed to farmers.

Directors of ICAR institutes, CAU Officials, Officials from Govt. of Manipur participated in the event.

The fair was attended by about 2000 farmers, where the ICAR Institutes, CAU, Line Departments, NGOs, Farmers exhibited their technology and products.
