Shri Sharad Pawar visited DMAPR, Anand

Shri Sharad Pawar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Food Processing Industries visited the Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research (DMAPR), Anand, Gujarat and interacted with scientists and farmers.

Shri Pawar visited Herbal Garden maintained at the DMAPR Botanical Garden and Field Gene Bank at Lambhvel Farm. He showed interest in life saving plants being used in various Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM). He appreciated institute for various activities in promoting modern cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants in India.

Shri Jayantbhai Ramanbhai Patel (boskey), MLA, Sarsa, Anand; Dr S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR; and Dr. A. M. Sheikh, Vice Chancellor, Anand Agriculture University (AAU), Anand were also present on this occasion. Dr. Ayyappan felicitated Shri Pawar and expressed his gratitude for the kind guidance and support in the endeavours of DMAPR.

Dr. Satyabrata Maiti, Director, DMAPR welcomed the Minister and made a presentation on “Country status Report on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs): India”.

Dr. KB Katheria, Director of Research and Dean PG studies, AAU; Heads of various departments of AAU, Anand; senior officials of ICAR institutions located in Gujarat; and scientists and staff of DMAPR were also present on the occasion.
