The Indian Council of Agricultural Research signed MoUs with Ramakrishna Mission Vivekanand University, Kolkata and Amity University, Uttar Pradesh for knowledge sharing, collaboration, cross learning, innovation and extension in agriculture, in the interest of the farmers.
ICAR Signed MoUs for Higher Education in Agriculture

Dr. Arvind Kumar, DDG (Education), ICAR signed MoUs on behalf of ICAR whereas Swami Atmapriyanand, Vice Chancellor, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekanand University, Kolkata and Dr. B.L. Arya, Registrar, Amity University signed on behalf of their respective institutions. Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR and Shri Arvind Kaushal, Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR graced the occasion.
DDGs, ADGs, senior officials and scientists were also present on the occasion.
The MoUs have major agreements as below:
- To conduct higher studies in agriculture and agriculture-related subjects, integrated rural development and management, environment and disaster management,
- To undertake various projects and to conduct research in agriculture and agriculture-related subjects, in integrated rural development and management, and in environment and disaster management,
- To supplement and reinforce the studies and research as described in (i) and (ii) hereinabove with extension work in different villages,
- To make the academic studies and research work effective for the benefit of the farmers by directly targeting agriculture and integrated rural development and management (‘Farmers First’),
- To produce human resource by training and creating a pool of professional personnel to directly deal with programmes and activities efficiently and effectively in agriculture and agriculture-related areas, integrated rural development and management, environment and disaster management,
- To develop the Centre gradually into a Centre of Excellence for any or all of the following niche areas: ‘Sustainable and Organic Farming System’ and ‘Integrated Rural Development and Management’, ‘Agricultural Bio-technology’, ‘Environment and Disaster Management’ by synchronizing teaching, research, extension and management for overall development of rural livelihood along national lines.
