Foundation Stone of KVK in Peren Unveiled by Shri Radha Mohan Singh

Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India unveiled the foundation stone of KVK at Jalukie, Peren today. On the occasion, Farmers’ Fair cum Exhibition was inaugurated by Shri T.R. Zeliang, Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland.

Shri Zeliang expressed the importance of KVK for the development of agricultural practices among the farmers and mentioned that the present KVK will help in imparting technical knowledge to the farmers of the district thereby improving the economic status. He mentioned that three important institute including KVK, Farmers Training School and College of Veterinary Science would be inaugurated in Peren district on 6th August 2016 which he expressed that the people should welcome the initiatives.

Shri S. Chuba Longkumer, Parliamentary Secretary, Veterinary and Animal Husbandary, Government of Nagaland expressed his gratitude to the ICAR & KVK for imparting the latest technology by training as per needs to the farmers, farm ladies and youth.

Earlier, while welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. D.J. Rajkhowa, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre mentioned the importance of the KVK while highlighting the role KVK Peren would play in the development of the district.

The event was attended by more than 500 farmers across the state and various critical farm inputs including fish fingerlings, saplings, agricultural farm implements, soil health card, poultry chicks and piglets were distributed to the farmers of the state of Nagaland. Publications on agriculture and allied sectors were also released by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries during the event.

Shri Talokhe Yepthomi, Minister, Public Health Engineering, GoN, Shri. Pankaj Kumar, Chief Secretary, GoN, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), Shri C. Roul, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary ICAR, Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agriculture Extension), Dr. S. Bhaskar, Assistant Director General (Natural Resource Management), Dr. H. Rahman, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, Dr. M. Premjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal and Dr. B.C. Deka, Director, ATARI, Zone III, Meghalaya graced the occasion.
