Dr S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR, New Delhi visited Hundru village near Ranchi (Jharkhand) to review the programme on Rice-Fallow system being implemented by ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna under Tribal Sub-Plan in Hundru, ChhotaGhagra and Saraitoli villages in a participatory mode involving 160 farm families.

On this occasion, DrAyyappan interacted with the farmers of Hundru village and comprehended farmers’ own innovations on transplanted cowpea being developed through the technological support of the institute and appreciated their optimism about the outcome of the programme. Dr B.P. Bhatt, Director, ICAR- RCER, Patna appraised the DG regarding the on-going activities under the programme covering development of water resources, increasing soil and water productivity and appropriate cropping options for Rice-Fallow system.
Dr A.K. Singh, Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR RCER, Research Centre, Ranchi briefed the DG about the capacity building activities being undertaken for the farmers under this programme.
