Annual Workshop of AICRP on Women in Agriculture concludes

The two-day Annual Workshop of AICRP on Women in Agriculture organized by the ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha organized from 12th to 13th May, 2022 concluded today.
Delivering the valedictory address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) highlighted the importance of the Nutri-Smart Village Programme to make India free from malnutrition as desired by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
Earlier, in his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR accentuated on the significance of ICAR-CIWA in empowering the farm women and gender mainstreaming in agriculture. The need for conducting the research on the upcoming gender related issues, scope to solve the challenges and progress further to take position in the world as a unique Institute was stressed by the DDG.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. P.S. Pandey, ADG (EP&HS), ICAR underlined the pivotal role of the ICAR-CIWA and AICRP on Women in Agriculture in addressing the challenges of Women in agriculture in India. He also emphasized on prioritizing the gender related issues and identification of the performance indicators for the impact study.
Welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar outlined the Institute’s collaborative research activities with all 19 Centres of AICRP on Women in Agriculture across the country and making the significant interventions for the livelihoods of the farm women.
About 80 Scientists from 18 AICRP Centres and ICAR-CIWA participated in this Workshop.
