India has signed Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) with Morocco to encourage technological co-operation
between the two countries for development of the agricultural
sector. The MoU was signed by Shri Kanti Lal Bhuria,
Minister of State for Agriculture on behalf of Government
of India and Shri Mohammed Mohattane, Secretary of State
to the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and
Sea Fisheries, in Charge of Rural Development for the
Government of the Kingdom of Morocco on 7 December,
2004.
The cooperation programme will be implemented through
exchange of students, scientists and technologists on
study visits, training and consultancies; exchange of
germ plasm and breeding material; exchange of scientific
literature, information and methodology. The priority
areas of collaboration include research in horticulture,
Crop Science, Fisheries, Veterinary Medicine and Animal
Science, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Education,
Agricultural Engineering and Natural Resource Management,
Food Technology and Topography.
The implementing agency on behalf of the Government
of the Republic of India shall be the “Department of
Agricultural Research and Education”, Ministry of Agriculture
and on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco,
the implementing agency shall be the “Direction de I’Enseignement,
de la Recherche et du Development”, Ministry of Agriculture,
Rural Development and Sea Fisheries. |
